Why Get Endodontic Treatment?

The endodontic treatment, known commonly as a “root canal,” is a treatment that can save a severely injured, cracked or decayed tooth when its pulp becomes infected or inflamed.

Our Endodontic Process

The Root Canal Process

As we said, many people cringe at the thought of having a root canal. But modern dentistry has improved dental techniques significantly, allowing you to stay comfortable during the procedure and your recovery.

When you come in for your endodontics consultation, we will

  1. take Digital X-Rays To Investigate For Tooth Damage And Infection And Perform A Thorough Examination Of Your Gums And Other Structures Of The Mouth.
  2. The Root Canal Treatment Is Performed In Our Office In One Or Two Visits, Depending On The Infection’s Presence And Severity.
  3. Before The Procedure Begins, We Will Apply A Local Anesthetic To The Affected Tooth And Surrounding Area.
  4. We Will Place A Small, Protective Sheet Over The Area To Isolate The Tooth From The Rest Of The Mouth To Keep It Clean And Free From Saliva.
  5. During The Treatment, Infected Pulp And The Tooth’s Nerve Located In The Root Are Removed. Dr. Garcia And Dr. Sanchez-Garcia Will Then Clean And Medicate The Pulp Chamber And Root Area. Once Complete, These Areas Are Filled And Sealed.
  6. Depending On The Tooth’s Location, It May Require A Dental Crown Or Other Restorative Treatment To Protect And Strengthen The Tooth.

After restoration, the treated tooth will function like any other tooth, and with good oral hygiene, it will last the rest of your life.

Exceptional Root Canal Treatment

Dr. Garcia and Dr. Sanchez-Garcia have considerable experience with the root canal procedure, regularly achieve exceptional results, and often complete root canals in just one visit.

Once you have been anesthetized, you will not feel any pain. Still, if you are uncomfortable in any way, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Sanchez-Garcia will administer pain medication to reduce any discomfort you may experience.

To keep you comfortable, we’ve invested in the most advanced technology and tools, including dental instruments that are as close to silent as possible. We use rotary instruments to make the procedure go faster. We also use a dental laser to help aid in the cleaning process and kill off any infection-causing bacteria.

Healthy Teeth

Why Is Endodontic Treatment Important?

If your tooth develops an area of decay or a cavity, the bacteria that grow in that area can spread to your tooth’s nerve or pulp and cause infection. If the infection spreads to your tooth’s roots, you could develop a very painful and dangerous infection.

Untreated tooth infections are dangerous. An oral infection can result in bone loss and tissue loss in the affected area, tooth loss, and even serious illness, such as endocarditis, a condition of the heart muscle’s lining.

Other tools used at Miami Designer Smiles during endodontics treatment include:

Justwo Apex Locator. This device is a unique sensor placed on your lip and attached to the instruments that clean out your tooth. It allows dentists to know precisely where they are inside your tooth and saves a great deal of time since it eliminates the need for X-rays during your treatment.

Satelac Ultrasonic Device. This instrument helps our dentists precisely remove affected tooth structure, so our dentists don’t remove any more tissue than necessary. This device also helps clean out the tooth more quickly, reducing the time it takes to complete your procedure.
