There are little tweaks that we can do on ourselves that look very natural and just smooth out certain things. The dentist is an excellent person to come see for that, because as a dentist, we receive hours and hours, countless hours, of training on whole-body anatomy when we’re in dental school.
At Miami Designer Smiles, we offer Dysport as a safe and effective injectable form of the botulinum toxin type A to help reduce the formation of forehead creases, crow’s feet and frown lines.
Like Botox, Dysport is a cosmetic treatment that is injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that allow you to make facial expressions.
While there are some similarities between the two, there are some significant differences between Dysport and Botox. One major difference is that Dysport works more quickly than Botox and can last up to six months, while Botox results are not seen as quickly and wear off between three and four months.
TMJ disorder is a painful life interruption that you shouldn’t have to suffer with. Learn how Dayami’s mouth reconstruction improved her quality of life and left her wishing she had done it 20 years before.
Before my rehab, I had a lot of headaches. My jaw would clench and I couldn’t move. I would speak and you could hear the cracking. My ears will hurt. I was dizzy with vertigo. My neck was constantly in pain… and just by doing this dental work, everything has changed.
What Does Dysport Do?
Dysport has many benefits and can treat:
“Angry Look.” Have you developed parallel vertical lines between your eyebrows? When parallel vertical furrows develop between your eyebrows due to furrowing your brows or squinting, it can cause you to look angry or worried — even when you’re not!
Forehead Wrinkles. Forehead wrinkles are horizontal lines that develop as a result of stress, age or frowning regularly.
Deep Furrows. Fine lines and wrinkles can develop into deeper lines and wrinkles, often called deep furrows. The chance of developing deep furrows increases when the skin is very dry or exposed to prolonged time in the sun.
Crow’s Feet. Crow’s feet are the tiny wrinkles that develop around the eyes. With age, crow’s feet can become more prominent due to collagen and elastin breaking down in your body.
Sagging Brows. Are your brows drooping? Dysport can give you a brow-lift without surgery. Dysport can lift the muscles and smooth out wrinkles and lines, resulting in a more youthful appearance for you!
Downturning Mouth Corners. When you age, the muscles around the corners of your mouth can begin to sag, which can pull your mouth downwards, causing you to appear to be frowning.
Under-Eye Wrinkles. Dysport can be used to treat wrinkles that develop at the corners of the eyes or under the eyes. As we age, these wrinkles can become prominent when we are smiling, frowning and laughing.
Wrinkles Around the Mouth. As you age, the skin around your mouth and chin begins to sag; Dysport can help the muscles of the face stop wrinkles from developing or getting worse.
Dysport is injected under the skin into the muscles in the treatment area using very fine needles. The injections generally take less than 15 minutes and are performed right here in our office.
Most patients do not experience pain with their Dysport injections and do not need the treatment area to be numbed before injections. There is also generally no need for pain medications or over-the-counter medications after the procedure.
After your Dysport injections, you should see results within two to four days, but this varies from patient to patient. Most individuals experience the peak of muscle weakening and Dysport benefits around the seventh day after injection.
After your Dysport injections, there is no downtime, and you should be able to resume your routine quickly. You should be immediately cleared to return to your regular activity and work after your injections.
Dysport injections are typically pain-free, but some patients may experience a very mild stinging sensation during and after their injections. If you’re concerned about discomfort, let us know, and we can apply ice or numbing cream before the procedure.
Some patients may experience responses after their Dysport treatment such as redness, bruising, swelling and numbness. To reduce these effects, you should avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications and blood thinners.
Is Dysport a Dermal Filler?
No, as we mentioned above, Dysport is a form of botulinum toxin type A that works to prevent the signs of aging by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles. Dermal fillers are cosmetic injectables designed to restore lost facial volume.
If you are looking for dermal fillers, Miami Designer Smiles offers patients the popular and versatile dermal filler Juvederm.
Injectable fillers can plump up the skin, fill in areas of lost volume, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and give you back a more youthful appearance. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based gel filler.
Juvederm is used for:
- Lip plumping
- Smoothing lines and wrinkles around the mouth, including wrinkles between the nose and upper lip (nasolabial folds), lines around the corners of the mouth (marionette lines), and deep horizontal lines between the chin and lower lip (mentalis crease)
- Filling in hollows to restore a youthful appearance in the cheek area
- Filling in hollows beneath the eyes to eliminate dark circles or a sunken look
How Is Juvederm Administered?
Like Dysport, Juvederm is injected under the skin. This minimally invasive procedure is done with precision using very fine needles. The dermal filler injections generally take less than 15 minutes and are performed right here in our office.
Most patients do not experience pain with their Juvederm injections and do not need numbing of the treatment area before injection. Like with Dysport, there is also generally no need for pain medications or over-the-counter medications after the procedure.
After your Juvederm injections, you should be able to see the result immediately. Skin will be plump and smooth. In most cases, you should see your full results within two weeks.
Juvederm injections typically do not cause pain, but some patients may experience a very mild stinging sensation during and after their injections. If you’re concerned about discomfort, let us know, and we can minimize the chances of pain before the procedure.
Although uncommon, some patients may experience redness, bruising, swelling and numbness after their Juvederm treatment. To reduce these effects, you should avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications and blood thinners.
